 Once upon a time, there was a beautiful kingdom Frythren ruled over by a wise king and his lovely queen, whom he had rescued from a tower guarded by a dragon and her father had made him king on their passing. All his subjects loved their new rulers. The Faerie Court was pleased with the mortals, the living dead did not thirst for the blood of the living and even the barbarian tribes were content to get drunk in peace. Life was perfect.
Twenty-five years later and things are not so perfect. The king has become corrupt and cruel, the queen is resorting to dark magic, they hate each other and their children cause them more embarrassment than pride. The kingdom's citizens have become unhappy and rebellious in response to high taxes and military involvement in everyday life. Discord is spreading through the now displeased Faerie Court, the living dead are biting, killing and sucking blood from the living and the barbarian tribes are pushing in at the borders of Frythren. Ancient conflicts are stirring, rumors of assassinations, war and resistance.
