- OVERALL PERSONALITY- C.J. is just a little particular. He likes things to be perfect, and he gets very anxious when they're not. But more than that, he's a very paternal figure. He is protective, patient, and possessive, but also incredibly responsible and optimistic around those he cares for. To those who he doesn't know or sees as a threat, he can seem disinterested, cold, harsh, or simply reserved. He's optimistic and naturally caring around children and some teenagers, too.
He's very intelligent, very observant, and more comfortable in one-on-one encounters than in crowds. However, he does not struggle at all to seem enthusiastic, charismatic, or dynamic. He is a capable orator, from crafting stories, to reciting poems at whim if he's inclined to put forth even a little bit of effort.
At times C.J. can seem distant, but his friends will find this an odd accusation because he is actually quite affectionate by disposition. He'll usually finding himself hugging a crying friend, or placing a guarding arm around a friend who's being bullied or frightened. In instances like that, C.J. is not quick to anger. Still, he does get angry on occasion, and he isn't above a physical altercation if the person he's upset with happens to insist upon it. Unfortunately for Chevy, he's not that great of a fighter. His strength lies in his cunning.

- OVERALL HISTORY- Most sane people in the situation the Oidasu Academy put them in would have to say they wanted to go home, wouldn't they? Not Chevy. Chevalier viewed it as nothing short of a blessing.
Chevy was born in France before his parents' lives fell apart. He spent the first two years of life there before his native U.S. parents carted him off to the U.S.. From there, they got into drugs and would eventually neglect Chevalier and his brother.
Chevalier wouldn't call himself brave. But he did take charge, and he did take care of his brother. When there wasn't enough food, he was the resourceful one that went out and found something, that gave up his sense of pride and asked others for their kindness, or that improvised and made even a burnt egg with cheese seem like a grand meal. Life wasn't nearly, not nearly easy. Beyond taking care of his brother, both boys had to take care of their parents, too, in a sense.
For Chevy, his self imposed responsibilities included the small things, like wiping away his mother's makeup at night when she was in a stupor, despite how sleepy he was, and making sure his parents always had clean blankets and pillows when they finally did sleep.
At six, it wasn't uncommon for him to pull a heavy comforter across the messy house to place across his mother as she lay where she'd collapsed in the middle of the living room. It also wasn't uncommon for him to prepare midnight meals (usually microwavable food) when his father's hands trembled and his mind wandered too much to function for the simple task.
Sleep was impossible when his parents were out on the streets. He worried ceaselessly, but more than he worried for them, he worried for his brother. Chevy wanted nothing more than to shelter his brother from the harsh reality. Even as tears sprung to his eyes, inspired by frightening thoughts about his parents safety, he'd cuddle on the couch with his brother while a movie played.
Chevalier would always force himself to point out just how funny a certain character was, going so far as to laugh at certain parts; the perfect, orchestrated responses. When his brother replied in those moments, for the briefest moment Chevy really could forget his worries and focus on his brother.
In school, Chevalier was a gifted, but distinctly disinterested pupil. He was very reserved and defensive, and he had absolutely no interest in the kids in his class. The only person he did seem fond of was his brother. When teachers spoke to him, it was clear he was a confident, in charge individual that wasn't going to be swayed. If he didn't like what they wanted him to do, he was quick to convey that they couldn't make him do it.
In spite of this, Chevy developed a deep respect for certain teachers. To them, the quiet, caring boy could be seen. His politeness took on a sincerity instead of a sarcasm, his stubbornness seemed more like a frustration over his level of maturity and responsibility among dissimilar peers. He'd grown up too fast, and he honestly liked the kids too much to tell them what really happened in his life. Lying constantly lead to resentment, so he just pushed them away before they ever had a chance.
Chevalier was the type of student who could be in the front of the class for a beautifully written paper, then sent to the hall for a witty remark that resolved the teacher's control of the classroom. He was a natural leader of the students, even if he didn't seem to like them. He was clear headed, direct, charismatic, intelligent, confident, and respected enough to guide even the most brutish and apathetic people. He had a paternal nature that drove him to comfort them and build them up indirectly (and a defensiveness that left him tearing them right back down if they approached him)
School was where Chevy felt the safest and most comfortable. It was where he wasn't the voice of authority, and he wasn't responsible for anyone but himself. Of course, this mindset made him feel very selfish.
When Chevalier was noticed, (along with his brother) after his sixteen birthday, he was taken against his will to Oidasu Academy. He saw it as a chance for his brother to have a normal life without the burden of the boys' shared past rather than a negative situation. Besides, he liked the authority demonstrated by the guards because he figures one day he was going to wield just as much control over people as they did. All it would take was persistence and perseverance.
